Which anime
should I watch as a beginner, now a days this question might be a tricky one for beginners. In 2023 there are huge number of anime released till now. Some of these are well known, watched by millions of anime fans as the popularity of anime industry grows day by day. But it's a hassle to find a right one for you as a beginner. As for me, the first anime I have watch was 'Golden Time'. So, I'm going to share some of my anime recommendation for beginners. So, stick with me till the end. Here's my top ten anime list for beginners:
Written by Yuyuko Takemiya Golden Time is centered around two character named 'Tada Banri' and 'Kouko Kaga'. Following an accident Tada Banri was left with severe memory loss. To start a new life he left his hometown and joins a law school at Tokyo, where he meets with Kouko. Together they passed so many hardships, eventually they become lovers. This show is really enjoyable. you should watch this if you are a fan of romantic comedy. Overall this anime has an average imdb rating of 7.6 and MAL rating 7.7.
Tokyo Ghoul is one of the most popular anime series, set in a world where human live in fear of ghouls, as they consume human flesh to survive. A college student named Kaneki Ken who was nearly killed by such monster, becomes a half ghoul after transplanting organ of the ghoul named Rize Kamishiro. Overall the story of these anime is great especially the first two seasons and the last season. If you are looking for an anime with some short of dark side and also a wholesome ending you can go for it. I personally love the opening songs of Tokyo Ghoul especially Unravel and Katharsis. One of the greatest creation of MAPPA Studio, Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most loved anime due to its popularity among the crowd. It's one of those animes which you can enjoy with your friends. The character development and the dialogue of those characters are badass, and the animation of the series is way better than the previous ones. The story takes place in a world, where all living being emanate energy called cursed energy which derives from negative emotions ordinary people cannot see or feel those energy. Those who fight against this cursed energy are called jujutsu sorcerer. One of them is Yuji Itadori who is the main protagonist of the story. This series also contains some good side characters. Among them Gojo Satoru is my favorite character. If you are looking for a anime for best dialogues and great characters you can definitely watch this anime. Jujutsu Kaisen's imdb rating is 8.5 and MAL rating 8.6.
Horimiya is one of my favorite anime due to its simplicity and character development. The story tells us about two really different person in both socially and academically came to know each other and eventually become friends. As you can see the name Horimiya is also combined by the name of the lead female character Kyoko Hori and the lead male character Izumi Miyamura, who are the school students from the same class. Hori is known for her popularity and on the other hand Miyamura is clumsy, weird and socially introvert. The story tell us the chemistry between them. Overall this anime has average rating on imdb is 8.1 and MAL 8.2.
Classroom of the elite is a thrilling, slice-of-life series with psychological events, where the MC 'Ayanokoji Kyotaka' is said to be a perfect human keeps a low-profile and joins a highly competitive school. The school is regulated by strict rules and the students have to earn points through exams, physical activities and special tests to buy their daily commodities for living in school dorm. The story contains with several thrilling moments and conspiracies among the students while they compete against each other in those challenges made by the school. You can watch this series since it's still ongoing. Overall this anime has a rating in imdb 7.7 and MAL 7.9.
Now this anime doesn't need any further introduction. It's one of those anime that never gonna disappoint you. The story focuses on the lead character 'Saitama' whose power is out of the world, yet known by a very few people in the anime. The story of the anime situated in a world where human lives in a terror of monsters. Hence emerged Hero Association to fight against those monsters. Later, Saitama joins the Hero Association when he comes to know about them. Overall the story contains with so many epic fights and comedy. currently, I'm not sure but there might be a season 3 of the anime. you are gonna love it. This anime has a great imdb rating of 8.7 and MAL 8.5.
Written by Yuki Tabata, Black Clover sets in a world where everyone is born with the ability to use magic. The story focuses on a young boy named Asta who was raised in a church of a country-side village. The story elaborates the difficulty of Asta to achieve his dream of becoming a wizard king while he was not able to use magic. Overall, the story is full of twists and thrilling moments. The series consists of some major arcs. The story continues as the MC fights with different villains in different arcs. If you're looking for an action anime you can definitely go for it. Its average rating on MAL is 8.1 and imdb rating is 8.3.
If you love popular tv series like Game of Thrones, then you should definitely go and watch Attack on Titan. Written by Hajime Isayama Attack on Titan is an action, dark fantasy, post-apocalyptic anime, which contains harsh racism and political affairs. The story tells us about a civilization centered around three layers of gigantic walls, where human lives inside the walls by the fear of large human like creatures called Titan. In the outer layer of the three walls, lives a young boy named Eren Yeager with his parents. His dream was to free from the walls. Due to the influence of Titans, he lost his family, and forced to evacuate in the inner layer. Eventually he joins the military by hardships and determinations. The story unfolds the history of this civilization and the walls. Each episodes of the anime comes with suspense and thrilling moments. Overall the anime is top of the tier, comes with a imdb rating 9.1 and MAL 8.54.
Apart from the other animes this one comes as a movie instead of a series with several episodes. This is one of the must watch anime in this list. Makoto Shinkai’s one of the greatest creation Your Name (also known as Kimi No Nawa) has all it takes to be the greatest. Makoto Senkai’s anime has its own aesthetics compared to other animes. The story focuses on a young girl and boy living in two different parts of Japan come to know each other through sudden body swapping. Together they face so many Awkward moments. In a particular moment the story completely turns around leaving the audience’s jaw drop. Overall, this anime comes with a imdb rating of 8.4 and MAL 8.85.
Now this anime is an allrounder both by its style and story are top notch. In terms of animation, it’s incomparable. Demon slayer anime reflects old Japan where people were hunted by demons. Basically, they were human previously. They hunt down human to devour their flesh and bloods in order to survive. In a small house near a forest Kamado Tanjiro’s family was killed by one of such creatures and his sister turns into a demon leaving him hopeless. Later, he joins demon slayer academy, as he was looking for cure for his sister Nezuko. There he meets with several strong swordsman and fight along side them to find the main culprit behind all this causes. This anime has currently three seasons with three different arcs and a movie. You can choose whatever you want from this above list. Each one best on its own. All recommendations are follows by personal opinion. It may vary person to person. All animes are available for paid and free options with both English dubbed with subtitles, but I’ll prefer them to watch in Japanese dubbed with English subtitle.
